Beaches and Seasides

The most popular beaches of palaiochora are Sandy beach (Pachia Ammos) and Stone beach (Chalikia) with pebbles. Both of them have been awarded with the EU blue flag and they’ve been distinguished of their clear blue-green waters.

From here you will enjoy sunsets of exceptional beauty whereas the sun sinks into the far horizon of Libyan Sea.

Eastwards, on foot or by transfer, there is the beache of Keratides, the ideal place for underwater fishing and sunbathing.

Continue the same way and you arrive to Gialiskarii, a small peninsula with sandhills, wild plantation and three beaches which are difficult to compare each other!

To the west of Paleohora and towards to Krios cape, in a 9 kilometres distance, there are many small gulfs and isolated spots for any preference! The most known are the beach of Volakas for those who like to dive, Plakaki beach and Karavopetra beach, with amazing pebbles. Arriving in the area of Kundura, the small peninsula of Grammenos is lying underneath, a marvellous landscape with sand hills, cedar trees and two nice beaches with sand and pebbles

Elafonisi, is a unique experience for every visitor! You can reach there by boat daily departing from Paleohora, on foot following the E4 path or by vehicle.

At Elafonisi you can have the chance to swim in one of the most beautiful shores of Mediterranean Sea! It is well known for the long beach with the pink sand and the tropical coloured water! You can return to Paleohora in the afternoon by boat and have the chance to see the dolphins and the whales of Libyan Sea.

The boat that takes you into the summer's big blue, is accompanied by playful dolphins and whales that welcome you on their water world!
